One of my greatest proficiencies is wasting time, and the best mechanism I’ve found to do that is going down high school basketball highlight rabbit holes. That is how I discovered Chet Holmgren. Yes, a man named Chet is a force on the hardwood. An absolute problem.
Stephen Curry invited 33 of the top high school basketball players in the country to the Bay Area for a three-day summer camp. On that list was Holmgren, aka the Slim Reaper, a seven-foot rising junior from Minnehaha Academy in Minnesota.
The Reaper burst onto the scene last year when he had 53 points and 37 rebounds during the 2A state tournament the game after swatting 21 shots. Since then, there have been compilation videos on YouTube calling him “The Most Unique Player In High School Hoops.”
Holmgren solidified himself as a legend this weekend when he hit Steph Curry with his own silky behind-the-back-squared move before powering through a two-handed dunk on a helpless defender. It was saucy.

Yikes. It should be noted that Steph absolutely took over in the pickup game (against high schoolers), but there’s no way that that will be the enduring narrative.
