Stephen A. Smith, the man who once got roasted by fans for saying Michael Jordan changed basketball for the worse, now has his own basketball camp.
It’s not just any old basketball camp, either. It’s a $2,899 basketball camp at the renowned IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Seriously. Look…

“IMG Academy is getting loud and providing a once-in-a-lifetime camp opportunity for young athletes with its Stephen A. Smith Basketball Camp at IMG Academy taking place Aug. 6-12,” the website for the camp boasts.
“As part of the camp package, Smith will participate in several engaging opportunities with camp participants, including sharing an inspiring message to the young athletes and hosting a Q&A-format discussion. All camp participants will receive exclusively branded Stephen A. Smith Basketball Camp at IMG Academy apparel to wear for the week of camp.”
The Stephen A. Smith Basketball Camp at IMG Academy was announced on Thursday with a press release.
In it, the ESPN host said, “To have my own basketball camp associated with IMG Academy is an incredible opportunity for me to share my story and help inspire the next generation. Providing advice on what it takes to succeed not only on the court, but also beyond the shot clock, is something I’m very passionate about. I’m honored that IMG Academy sees me as someone who can be an extension of its mission of empowering student-athletes to win in their future, preparing them for college and for life.”
At the bottom of the release, in italics, was written, “Camp Participants can engage with Stephen A. Smith and receive branded apparel.”
In fairness, Stephen A. Smith did receive a scholarship to play basketball at Winston-Salem State University back in the day.
Unfortunately…

Needless to say, the jokes about Stephen A. Smith hosting his own basketball camp pretty much wrote themselves on social media.

“I prefer the Skip Bayless basketball camp where for $1500 he will tell you how clutch you aren’t,” another sports fan tweeted. “The Jason Whitlock camp costs $1000 but it comes with personalized truck nuts.”
