Millions of fans will tune in to see the Rihanna Super Bowl Halftime Show this year but Stephen A. Smith is already throwing shade.

When asked by Sherri Shepherd if he was excited for Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime show he chose his words wisely. The ESPN talking head started by saying “I don’t want to say I’m not excited.”

That’s not exactly a ringing endorsement of the upcoming Rihanna Super Bowl Halftime Show. He then went on to explain the reasons he’s not so amped.

Saying “she’s fantastic” before finally getting to his point by saying “ladies and gentlemen, she’s a lot of things. She’s spectacular, actually. And congratulations to (her) new mamahood… (But) there’s one thing she’s not. She ain’t Beyonce.”

Here’s the laughable moment Stephen A. Smith shades the Rihanna Super Bowl Halftime Show before it’s even happened:

UPDATE: Stephen A. Smith Has Already Apologized To Rihanna

After Stephen A. Smith got wind of how people received his comments he was quick to apologize. And not just apologize but he heaps praise on Rihanna and rightfully so. Praise that he them tempers by explaining his love of Beyonce and the situation he was put in on television:

The comments on YouTube are revealing. The top comment seems to agree with Stephen A. Smith’s take. It says “And that is a fact.” The next top comment is “He really gonna storm the superbowl stage like: Rihanna I’mma let you finish but Beyonce…” Others discuss how it’s all a matter of opinion.

All things considered, the clip from Sherri is ridiculous. Stephen A. Smith knew he was going to stroll out there and get people riled up. And for that reason, I love this segment through and through.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show is going to be incredible. End of story. She currently has Jay-Z and Roc Nation helping her with the performance, according to Capital FM.

Riri also released a Halftime Show teaser lask week and fans straight-up lost their minds. She has has much stardom today as she did a decade ago but it seems as if Stephen A. Smith has forgotten that:

That video has been watched 3.9 million times on Twitter and that tweet has been seen 16.4 million times. She’s going to blow the world away with this Super Bowl Halftime Show.

When is the Rihanna Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Rapper CupcakKe is listed as a co-performer on Wiki but Rihanna is listed everywhere else as a solo act. The last solo female artist to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show was Lady Gaga in 2017.

Super Bowl 57 in Arizona will take place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale. The Super Bowl 57 kick-off is expected to take place at 6:30pm and the Halftime Show will happen around 8pm, or 90 minutes later.

This year’s Super Bowl will be played on Sunday, February 12th.

Rihanna is the second-best-selling female solo artist of all time, trailing only Madonna. She’s had 14 #1 songs and 31 top 10 singles. Rihanna also has an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion, so she’s not doing this for the money.
