The term “ankle-breaking crossover” is usually used as a figure of speech on the basketball court, but Stephen A. Smith may have literally befell that fate after ending up in the hospital courtesy of Micah Parsons.

The NBA All-Star Game will be played in Indianapolis on Sunday to wrap up a long weekend of festivities that will really kick off when the All-Star Celebrity Game is held at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday night.

This year, the two opposing squads will be coached by Shannon Sharpe and Stephen A. Smith, and their rosters are home to a number of notable names who will get the chance to show off their skills on the hardwood, including a couple of NFL players in the form of CJ Stroud and Micah Parsons.

Parsons is obviously known for his talents as a linebacker, but he could also hold his own on the basketball court during his time in high school. He drew praise for his play during his stint as a 6’3″, 235-pound center and still appears to have some pretty solid handles based on a clip he posted while gearing up for the All-Star Celebrity game.

Things took a very amusing turn on Friday morning courtesy of an update Molly Qerim relayed on First Take, as she revealed the 56-year-old Smith decided it would be a good idea to see if he could go toe-to-toe with Parsons during a practice.

Well, it would appear the answer is a resounding “No,” as Qerim said Parsons hit him with a crossover that led to the talking head taking a trip to the hospital to get X-rays on his ankle.

Adam Schefter reports Smith was discharged with the ankle brace he’ll be sporting when he coaches on Friday night, and while it’s safe to assume we’ll hear his side of the story pretty soon, that’s going to be pretty hard to live down.
