Stetson Bennett celebrated his team’s second straight national championship over the weekend in Athens. The Georgia star was seen riding alongside teammates as they enjoyed the festivities with fans.

Unfortunately, the senior signal caller was the target of criticism from a local radio host.

After the parade, Atlanta food and radio personality Steak Shapiro took to Twitter to condemn the passer’s actions during the celebration. More specifically, he called Bennett out for ignoring the Bulldog fans in attendance.

Stetson Bennett needed someone to tell him to get off his damn phone during a parade and to show some graciousness and appreciation to the fans that were sitting in that stadium. You want to crush the media you think were mean to you do it at a press conference. #BadMoments

Shapiro claims that Bennett was more interested in talking on his cell phone than enjoying the moment with fans, which got a rise out of the team leader.

He quickly clapped back on Tuesday.

Stetson Bennett then explained the situation further while absolutely annihilating his critic.

One phone was mine. One phone was connected to the Bluetooth. Mine had the playlists. The other had the aux. I appreciate your concern with my image/intentions/loyalties/obligations (as well as your willingness to reach out to me to confirm them), you obviously though quite deeply about some motives I might’ve had.

To fill in some holes though, can I give you the ‘inside’ scoop?

We, as a team, are so very appreciative of the fans. We, as individuals, appreciate our teammates. Ya know, the ones we’ve broken bones and torn ligaments and bled for… I was controlling the aux, and playing bangers, so [my teammates] and I could have a blast on our last ride into Sanford [Stadium]. That’s pretty much the gist of it.

PS: I don’t like you very much Mr. Steak “and shake” Shapiro. But to be fair, I’m not a fan of your work, either.

Shots fired.

Shapiro tried to backtrack a bit by saying that he couldn’t be a bigger fan, and that he thinks Stetson Bennett is the greatest player in Georgia history.

Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.
