Suriname Vice President Ronnie Brunswijk is in big trouble with one of soccer’s governing bodies. Brunswijk has been disqualified by CONCACAF from participating in any related activities for three years.
The 60-year-old is not only the VP of the small country between Guyana and French Guiana, but he also owns Inter Moengotapoe of the SVB Eerste Divisie. He is being punished over a viral video that allegedly showed him passing out players of an opposing soccer team and leaving with that team’s shirt.

Brunswijk’s alleged behavior took place on Sept. 21 after a match between Moengotapoe and Olimpia. He also played in that game.
No, seriously.
At the age of 60, Brunswijk captained his own side during a CONCACAF League fixture. He played up front alongside his own son, in a stadium that bears his name, and totaled 54 minutes in the match.
By doing so, he became the oldest player to ever see time in an international club competition. His side lost badly.
60 year-old Ronnie Brunswijk, the vice president of Suriname, picked himself to play for the club he owns, Inter Moengotapoe.
They lost 6-0 😂😂😂

Brunswijk did not fare too well himself, but he looked about as good as one could expect from somebody born in 1961, the number he wears on his jersey.

It is unclear as to why Brunswijk was in the Olimpia locker room after the match or why he was (allegedly) handing out money. Either way, he’s pretty clearly doing exactly that and has been punished accordingly.
Brunswijk’s backstory:
Had Brunswijk not received a suspension, he would not have been able to compete in the second leg against Olimpia anyway. He has an outstanding warrant with The International Criminal Police Organization and cannot leave Suriname.
INTERPOL
Get this — Brunswijk robbed banks in his youth, was convicted of drug trafficking in Europe, spent time as a guerrilla leader, and is a father to at least 50 children. He is also a gold baron.
You can find his full, WILD story here.
And to make the entire thing even more insane, this was not the first time that Brunswijk inserted himself into the lineup.

However, Brunswijk’s reign as owner/player/captain is over after the suspension. Now he will have to return to being only his country’s VP.
