Surprise Team Named Favorite To Land Bill Belichick Next Season

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are on the verge of a breakup, and one team has been named the favorites to land him.

Earlier this week, the Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that people within the Pats organization think there’s a high likelihood Belichick and the Patriots will part ways at the end of this season.

Speculation continues to grow about the end of the partnership between the Patriots and Belichick. In talking to those who have spent time around the Patriots organization and understand the dynamics between team owner Robert Kraft and Belichick, I don’t expect anything to be determined with so much season remaining. But if people I talk to had to bet, their money is on a mutual parting of the ways at the end of the season.

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky confirmed that he heard the same thing and went on to say that Belichick had his new location already picked out.

NFL insider Gary Myers reports that sources are telling him that the LA Chargers are the favorites to get Belichick in the offseason.

“One of my well-placed sources believe the Chargers are the favorites for Bill Belichick in 2024: Excellent QB; team ready to win; Belichick likes California and the beach.

“A return to the Giants? Not happening. They are almost certainly sticking with Brian Daboll. Belichick had an opportunity to return to the Giants in 2018 when it was getting messy in New England, but it didn’t get very far.”

“The Giants are too far away from winning now anyway. Not only does Belichick need 18 more victories to pass Don Shula as the all-time winngest coach, but I imagine winning a Super Bowl without Tom Brady after Brady won one without him is very, very high on his to-do list.”

We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Belichick but all signs are pointing to his time in New England running out.
