The new general manager of the New York Giants, Joe Schoen, has made it clear that we should expect to see some changes to the roster this offseason. There have been reports that some of those changes could include trades of Saquon Barkley or James Bradberry to free up some cap space.
The only question was what the Giants would actually get in return for either of those players. Today, The Athletic’s Dan Duggan revealed what he’s hearing the trade values would be for Barkley and Bradberry.
Surveying sources in Indy, the consensus trade value for James Bradberry is a third-round pick and Saquon Barkley is a fourth-round pick. I'm skeptical that the Giants will pull the trigger on a Saquon trade.

These values would make it difficult for the Giants to trade either of these players. The Giants have just made way too much of an investment in Barkley to give him up for a 4th rounder. Even if they don’t have any intention of re-signing him after this season, which they shouldn’t, his production this season could be more valuable than a 4th rounder’s entire career.
As much as the Giants should be looking to get some kind of return on him before letting him walk in free agency, a 4th rounder is just not enough to justify trading a player who was taken 2nd overall just 4 seasons ago.
The value on Bradberry also seems like it should deter the Giants from trading him this offseason. Yes, he carries a heavy cap hit for a team with some issues in that department, but he is only 28 years old and was one of the league’s highest graded corners just a season ago. The Giants would be better off finding money elsewhere.
The Giants are going to need to make some sacrifices to get under the cap and fix their roster, but these might not be the right sacrifices for them.
