Steelers’ T.J. Watt is having another MVP-type season, but when he’s not on the field he enjoys hanging with his brothers JJ and Derek.

In a Youtube series hosted by JJ Watt, T.J. and his Derek compete to prove any gameday food can be a taco using Old El Paso ingredients called “Watt Can Taco.”

We spoke briefly to T.J. about his favorite gameday foods, working with his brothers and Old El Paso.

What are some of your favorite game day foods?

“I mean other than tacos of course, I’m a big plain chicken and rice guy. It’s pretty boring. I used to eat steaks a lot before games, but I’ve recently switched over to chicken.”

Is there a favorite challenge or taco you created in the Watt Can Taco Series?

Yea. I remember the first challenge I had to make a hot dog into a taco which was extremely difficult, but I feel like I did a good job. It was a Chicago-style hot dog and I used the taco bowl from Old El Paso and created my take on it. I think Derek won that challenge but I, of course, think J.J. was wrong in his judgement.

“Other things were trying to create a deep dish pizza, or Derek did kebabs. It’s kind of funny, they sound goofy but they actually tasted better than you think. We learned a lot of things can taco that we didn’t think originally.”

If you were to pick the best taco from the Watt Can Taco series what would it be?

“It was the soup one. Derek’s Chicken Cheese Enchilada Soup Bowl. The soup challenge was a very big surprise – seeing how delicious it was.”

What did it mean to work with your brothers on this?

“Any time I’m able to team up with my brothers on a campaign that we believe in, and means something to us, it’s just a blast. I had such a fun time working with Old El Paso and my two goofball brothers.”

Why did you partner with Old El Paso?

“Taco night was huge in our house growing up and Old El Paso was the brand we used in our household for tacos. It was very communal. We had very busy schedules growing up and at the end of the day to be able to come together as a family and share how our
days went over taco night was pretty special.”
