Former Dallas Cowboys‘ first-round draft pick, Taco Charlton, is set to get another shot at the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers made the signing official on Tuesday, prompting an immediate connection to the popular phrase “Taco Tuesday.”
Charlton, a defensive lineman, was originally selected by the Cowboys as the 28th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft. However, Taco failed to live up to expectations during his two seasons with the team and was eventually released in early 2019.
Since then, Charlton has bounced around several other NFL teams, including the Bears, Chiefs, Jaguars, Saints, Dolphins, and Steelers, accumulating a total of 11.5 sacks throughout his career.
The decision to sign Charlton represents a second chance for the talented player, and the 49ers hope to tap into his potential to strengthen their defensive line.
As news of the signing broke, fans and social media users immediately made the connection to “Taco Tuesday,” a popular phrase that celebrates the delicious Mexican dish.
The 49ers had to part ways with safety Avery Young to make room for Charlton.
