Tennis fans and viewers of the Netflix tennis documentary series Break Point will know the names Taylor Fritz and Morgan Riddle very well.

For the rest of the world, here’s a little primer.

Taylor Fritz is a 25-year-old professional tennis player. A tennis player who has been hyped as the next great American tennis star.

That hasn’t really happened.

Yes, he did become the number one ranked American singles player on November 8, 2021, but he finished that year with an overall world ranking of 23rd.

He has won six singles titles, most recently at the 2023 Atlanta Open in July, and was ranked as high as 5th in the world back in February of 2023, but he has never made it past the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam singles event.

It is because of those high expectations and his struggle to completely live up to them that Fritz was chosen to appear on Break Point.

During the first season, Fritz, along with several other tennis pros, had Netflix cameras follow them around on tour, chronicling their attempts to succeed at the highest level of the sport.

Along the way, Taylor Fritz’s girlfiend, Morgan Riddle, was also featured multiple times.

On Tuesday at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Fritz will attempt to defeat Novak Djokovic, something he has never been able to do.

Riddle, based on her latest Instagram post, is more than ready for the big match.

“The last couple years we’ve just developed such a good partnership,” Riddle said during a recent Break Point reunion while talking to Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend Ayan Broomfield. “[With] what we’re both doing with my social stuff and his tennis, we’re just having this collective goal of him having the best career possible, and bringing tennis to a younger audience.”

“I would say how fly on the wall it was,” Morgan continued. “I think with reality TV, which I guess this technically would be, there’s always been talk about how they will kind of push you to say certain things or encourage certain things to happen,” Riddle said. “But that was not the case at all. It was very natural. They kind of were just there with cameras following what our life is actually like.”

“He’s so supportive of me, I’m so supportive of him,” Riddle added. “It’s really nice, I think, in terms of me, like specifically helping his tennis. I’m very organised and Type A and making sure he’s on time for everything. That’s not exactly his personality, but I think I help in that aspect a lot. And also just being an emotional support board for him.”

As of this writing, Taylor Fritz is going to need a lot of that emotional support as he is down 6-1, 3-2 to Djokovic.
