TCU Battling Texas A&M For College Football’s Weirdest Tradition With Recent Riff Ram Hype Video

Things just get weirder in the state of Texas with their respective college football teams.

The Texas A&M Aggies have taken a dose of mockery over the last few days, one for losing to App State as a top 10 team, and two, for some embarrassingly bad jokes referencing the Mountaineers at the pep rally prior to the defeat.

Texas A&M has always been looked at as… different.

For those who attended the school, most call the oddities seen at sporting events tradition. For outsiders, it’s all just a bit off. Almost cult-like.

But it seems another program in the Lone Star State is tired of the Aggies having all the attention. A clip of TCU’s most recent “Riff Ram Bah Zoo” chant and hype video is going viral online for all the wrong reasons.

This post goes deeper into the tradition.

It is the oldest cheer in the Southwest Conference, TCU’s original athletic conference, and it might date back all the way to the 1920s.

Riff, Ram, Bah Zoo
Lickety, Lickety, Zoo, Zoo
Who, Wah, Wah, Who
Give ’em Hell, TCU.

Not only do the Horned Frogs yell this chant on gamedays, but they also produce a hype video to go along with it. Unfortunately, the latest rendition is now becoming the butt of jokes among college football fans.

Fans react to TCU’s ‘Riff Ram’ tradition

After seeing the “Riff Ram” video make its rounds on social media, many are trolling TCU. Take a look at the immediate reaction.

One college football account on Twitter says, “Nah what is this? I lost it when they guys with the lawn mowers popped on screen.”

Admittedly, I did not do enough research on TCU history to find the relevance of lawn mowers and Horned Frogs football. One fan referenced other Lone Star State “traditions,” hilariously asking, “Can any of you Texas schools just be normal?”

Another fan posted, “Just imagine – someone actually thought this would a great hype video.” That comes from a Vanderbilt supporter who relies on these hype videos because the product on the field typically doesn’t excite.

It appears that TCU would not be outdone by Texas A&M. This fan jokingly wrote, “TCU: ‘Don’t forget about us! We want to get in on the cringe-worthy viral videos, too!!'”

Tough look for the state of Texas right now, but on the bright side for TCU, they’re one of the only major programs to start the season 2-0.
