The middle school football game between Cornersville and South Franklin in Tennessee very quickly turned ugly during the fourth quarter. A disgruntled 16-year-old girl ran onto the field to attack an opposing player.

She is now facing charges.

The unusual incident forced the middle school football game to end early. It was already a blowout.

Two Tennessee middle school football players will be suspended for a brawl.

The middle school football game between South Middle School and Cornersville Middle School was being played at Franklin County High School in Winchester, Tennessee. South scored a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter at about 8:00 p.m. Even though it was already leading by 26 points, it decided to go for two.

During that two-point conversion attempt, a player from South and a player from Cornersville got tangled up on the far end of the field. Meanwhile, South successfully converted the two-point play to go up 34-0.

The two players involved in the physical altercation had already been flagged for unnecessary roughness. They were flagged for a second time while they wrestled on the ground. Officials stepped in to break it up. The two sides were separated.

Both players involved in the on-field incident were ejected from the game. They will both serve one-game suspensions.

However, the altercation did not stop there. A fan entered the field of play, ran over to the end zone and tackled the South player. She also shoved him back to the ground as they both got back to their field. The game ended early.

A 16-year-old girl is facing charges for running onto the field and attacking an opponent.

Per TMSAA bylaws, Cornersville will be fined a minimum of $250 because the fan entered the field during play. The fan was ejected from the game. As was Cornersville’s head coach. He also received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

The fan has since been identified as a 16-year-old girl. She is expected to be charged in juvenile court with disorderly conduct and assault. Franklin County Schools also plans to ban her from school property. Here is a video of the incident:

School resource officers met the 16-year-old girl, who is from Marshall County, as she left the field. The teen was then released to her parents, who were also in attendance. Authorities plan to serve her with the juvenile charges. She won’t be allowed back.
