Eight games ago, the Texas A&M Aggies were the No. 3-ranked team in the nation and looked like a genuine threat to win a college football national championship.

Fast forward a bit and the Aggies have lost five of their last eight games after getting blown out by Missouri on Saturday, and head coach Mike Elko is seemingly beginning to turn on fans.

The loss to the Tigers was the third in the last four games this season and dropped A&M to 3-3 halfway through the 2026 season, essentially ending its College Football Playoff hopes.

After the loss, Elko was asked what he thought about fans losing faith in the program. He didn’t hold back.

Mike Elko Called Out Texas A&M Fans Who Use Message Boards

“There’s a difference to me between the fan base and social media. So there’s one group that I really don’t care much about,” Elko told Carter Karels of On3 Sports. “Billy’s cesspool (at TexAgs) can go be Billy’s cesspool. Our fan base, stay with us, be behind us. We’re going to build something that we told you we were going to build. So we’re in a really bad spot right now, but we’ll work our way out of it.”

On one hand, you can understand Elko’s frustration. Online fans can be unbearable. But also, the team has lost five of its last eight games, and star offensive coordinator Colin Klein left to become the head coach at his alma mater, Kansas State.

At some point, Elko needs to turn things around, or the fans will only get louder moving forward.
