The Texas A&M men’s basketball program is having a fantastic 2024-25 season under head coach Buzz Williams. The Aggies are 20-5 and currently sit third in the SEC and eighth in the latest AP Top 25. But it’s a good thing that the Aggies are playing well, because they sure aren’t looking good doing so.
Texas A&M unveiled a new gray alternate uniform on Saturday in a 69-61 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks. Unfortunately for the Aggies, the uniform is one of the worst we’ve ever seen in the modern era.

New Texas A&M Basketball Jerseys Have Great Message But Awful Execution
The new jerseys are almost entirely gray. They feature what’s supposed breathable material with tiny holes through the midsection. Each player has a burgundy “T” on the right side of their chest and their number on the bottom left portion of their abdomen.
“The ‘honoring black excellence’ uniforms features quilting patterns inspired by artistry, resilience and cultural significance of quilting within black communities. The asymmetrical designs symbolize the influence of community leaders and the rich heritage of black culture,” Adidas said of the design. “Alex Taylor, the creative director and storyteller of Adidas’ black history month campaign, is the found of Hoops New York City, a New York City-based brand that opportunities for women of all ages to reconnect with the sport of basketball.
“The design is inspired by the jersey of women’s basketball pioneer Lusia Harris.”
Look, that’s nice and all. But it doesn’t make the jerseys look any better. There is a reason that basketball uniforms have evolved over time and there’s a way to give a nod to history without outright copying it.
Thankfully for Texas A&M, it’s not alone. Indiana also wore similarly designed uniforms. But something tells us we won’t be seeing these uniforms after this season ends.
