While everyone was busy watching the Denver Nuggets win the NBA Finals, the Stanford Cardinal punched their ticket to the College Baseball World Series.

They defeated the Texas Longhorns with a walk-off win and it might be the most heartbreaking loss we’ve seen in sports recently.

It was all tied up in the bottom of the ninth with two outs recorded, runners on first and second. All Texas needed was one more out to push the game into extra innings.

However, the Cardinal hit a pop fly to the outfield and it should have been a routine catch, but instead, Texas lost the ball in the night lights, resulting in a walk-off win for Stanford.

It’s truly a heartbreaking way to go down and lose your bid to the CWS. Watch the clip yourself as Texas completely fumbled their chances of advancing in the playoffs.

That might just be the worst way to lose a baseball game. I mean, Stanford had no business scoring that run. But, baseball is one of the most unpredictable sports in the world.

Players lose the ball in the lights or the sun all the time. But usually it’s not during a crucial moment in the game like that.

On the other hand, this is just brilliant luck for Stanford. Just, the fact they had a guy in scoring position on that hit worked heavily in their favor.

College baseball fans couldn’t believe their eyes, as they commented on Stanford’s walk-off win over Texas.

“Crushing” is a great way to describe how Texas feels right now.

Look for Stanford to try and build off of this win. They have some solid momentum right now as they advance to the next round of the CWS.
