It’s no secret plenty of sports fans use games as an excuse to get their drink on, but the folks tasked with stocking beer at the First Responder Bowl apparently underestimated just how thirsty Texas State fans were going to be during the contest.
On Tuesday night, Texas State and Rice faced off at Gerald Ford Stadium in Dallas (the venue that’s usually home to the SMU Mustangs) in a showdown where the Bobcats had no trouble dispatching the Owls by a score of 45-21 to win the first bowl game in the history of the program (which was also the first one it appeared in).
While there wasn’t anything particularly noteworthy about the action on the field, a very intriguing storyline began to emerge in the first half of the contest courtesy of the Texas State fans who managed to drink all of the beer that was for sale on the side of the stadium where most of their supporters were sitting.
It didn’t take long for people to invade the other side of the building in search of some cold ones, and by the time five minutes had elapsed in the third quarter, the stadium was officially out of beer.
UPDATE: ALL ALCOHOL IN GERALD FORD STADIUM HAS BEEN CONSUMED

While this ultimately comes down to a lack of preparedness on the part of the vendors at Gerald Ford Stadium, you have to give Texas State (and some Rice) fans credit where credit is due for going as hard as they did on a Tuesday night.
This isn’t the first time a stadium has run into a similar issue. In 2018, Iowa State fans almost drank all of the Busch Light that was for sale at the Alamo Bowl, and in 2021, LSU fans managed to consume all of the booze for sale in some sections at the Rose Bowl before the game even began.
