Dana White is obsessed with the Sphere in Las Vegas. He cannot wait to put on the greatest live sporting event that anybody has ever seen at the world’s most viral venue on Mexican Independence Day.
The 54-year-old CEO and president of the UFC first announced his plans to takeover the Sphere back in October. It was met with a lot of excitement. However, he gave very little detail.
That changed this week. Dana White lives in Las Vegas so has been bouncing around on media row at the Super Bowl and made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
While on set, he gave a much greater understanding of his plans for the Sphere. Apparently, U2 is barely scratching the surface of its capabilities with the first-ever residency.
UFC is going much bigger at the Sphere.
The one example that White provided is in regard to the audio. He said that people sitting in different chairs throughout the arena are able to watch the show in a different language than the person next to them because the “speakers are aimed directly at a seat.”
While that may not seem like that a big deal, as cool as it might be, it indicates the existence of more. White is going to unlock the full potential of the Sphere, even beyond its current use as a concert venue.
There have been a lot of people who doubted that the venue is capable of hosting a live sporting event. White welcomes that negativity and sees it as a challenge. He can’t wait to blow their minds.
As for the actual event, it will be a “huge love letter to the history of combat sports in Mexico.” There will be a large number of Mexican-born fighters on the card because “some of the baddest dudes that have ever walked the face of this earth have been Mexican.”
White closed his promotion by declaring that “what we’re gonna pull off there will never be done again.” Sounds ELECTRIC!
