When you have as many trophies as Tiger Woods, some get held to a higher regard than others. The man has won well over 100 professional golf tournaments, it’s safe to say that for him, some trophies are just chunks of metal.

Nevertheless, the 15-time major winner has been tasked with finding some of his favorite trophies for his World Golf Hall of Fame exhibit. So, in the middle of rehabbing in hopes for a return to golf someday, Woods has been doing some digging.

He happened to stumble upon one of the more significant trophies of his career – his PGA Tour Rooke of the Year award – and it sounds like he legitimately misplaced it, or just forgot about it.

Woods was named the Rookie of the Year in 1996, 25 years ago, after officially arriving on the professional scene with two wins during his first full season on Tour. His two wins that year came at the Las Vegas Invitational and the Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Classic.

It’s easy to imagine that Woods digging up his old ROY trophy brought back some pretty unbelievable memories and served as a reminder of just how wild a journey it’s been. Now, he’s won 82 times on Tour and has been named the Tour’s overall player of the year 11 times.

Woods’ Hall of Fame induction ceremony as part of the 2021 class was postponed to March 9, 2022 and will now be held during the week of the Players Championship.
