College Football Coach Chugs Beer While Live On ESPN Just Hours Before Massive Rivalry Game

Tim Beck Chug Beer Coastal Carolina
ESPN

Tim Beck was hired as the head coach at Coastal Carolina prior to the 2023 college football season and continues to be one of the most fun personalities in the sport. His most recent shenanigans will make even the most imperturbable fan want to play for the Chanticleers.

He chugged a full beer, while live on ESPN, just hours before what could be considered the biggest game of the year in Conway!

Beck, 58, served as the offensive coordinator at Nebraska, Ohio State, Texas and North Carolina State from 2011-2022. Coastal offered him his first opportunity to be a head coach after Jamey Chadwell left for Liberty.

The hire didn’t seem all that flashy at the time. It was a good move for a recently relevant program to hand the keys to a proven offensive mind who worked his way up through the ranks at some of the biggest brands in college football. However, Beck flew mostly under the radar at each of his last few stops in terms of his vivacious personality.

Tim Beck is an electric factory!

That changed right away when the Ohio-native stepped in front of the podium at his introductory press conference.

I’m going to give you everything I’ve got. I’ve waited too long for this; I’m not going to screw this up. I’m not going to do that.

I’m going to treat this job with the utmost respect that it deserves. And then, every day that I go into work, I constantly [will] remind myself of the traditions and the people that were here before me that laid the foundation of what Coastal Carolina football is all about. And it’s a proud thing.

It’s very very well-known out in the world of college football, that when you play Coastal Carolina, it’s going to be a tough, hard-fought football game with physical, fast players that like to have fun. And that’s what I’m going to continue to build on and enhance to make Coastal Carolina stay at the top of the Sun Belt Conference.

The Chanticleers went 8-5 during Beck’s first season at the helm, in large part because of quarterback Grayson McCall. Their head coach also went extremely viral for a picture with scantily-clad cheerleaders.

Although they have not fared quite as well in 2024 there is still a lot of ball left to be played at 4-4 and that starts with Thursday night.

Coastal will host App State, which has quickly become its biggest rival, in South Carolina. Both teams are .500 and in desperate need of a win.

As could be expected, the student body did not care much about class and showed out in mass to the pregame, which started right next to the ESPN set. Beck joined them!

Rocking a teal blazer, the second-year head coach also downed an entire beer with Dan Mullen and Matt Barrie of the Worldwide Leader.

Here is the hit as it aired live on SportsCenter:

Why would you not want to play for (or root for) Tim Beck?? He put the can to his lips and crushed that beer without even hesitating. It was an impressive chug too!
