Coastal Carolina Football Coach Explains Decision To Delete Shirtless Photo With Bikini-Clad Dancers

Coastal Carolina head football coach Tim Beck is done talking about the shirtless photo he took at the beach in Hawaii earlier this week. It became something much bigger than planned…

The picture, which went extremely viral on social media, was posted to X and Instagram prior to the college football Early Signing Period on Tuesday night. Beck, who is absolutely yoked, stood next to the Chanticleers mascot without a shirt. A ‘Ball At The Beach’ chain hung around his neck, which is a reference to the program’s recruiting slogan.

Next to them stood members of the dance team. They all wore matching teal bikinis.

The posts shared the same caption on both platforms.

Multiple were quick to throw their support behind the posts. Offensive lineman Will McDonald replied in approval. Backup quarterback Jarrett Guest, who entered the transfer portal last month, said that the head coach is “(a) ladies man.”

The dance team also replied to the post.

Glad we ran into you at the beach today. Thanks for the picture!

However, because the internet is full of weirdos, both posts were removed after about three hours. Coastal Carolina decided to delete the photos after mixed reactions from college football fans.

The weirdos were out in full force. Some people found the photo to be inappropriate.

Beck ultimately addressed the decision to take and post the photo and was very clear that it was nothing more than a documentation of the trip. But then why was it deleted?

For worse or for better, in a world where everybody expects answers to every question and/or controversy, Beck later issued a statement on the decision to remove the image from social media. The conversation surrounding the viral image out-weighed the positives. It became too much of a distraction for a team that is trying to get ready for a bowl game on Saturday.

Beck took responsibility for the post and its deletion.

The photo that was posted to our team’s social media accounts was meant to support our University.

The decision to post the photo for #Teal Tuesday was mine. We are in Hawai’i as a program and our Dance Team is an important part of that.

As Head Football Coach, I am responsible for all aspects of our program. The decision to delete the photo was made because the focus on the post was distracting from our time in Hawai’i and our preparation for Saturday’s game. That decision was mine.

We appreciate the Dance Team, the Band, the Cheerleaders, the CAF, and everyone from Teal Nation who has supported us throughout the year. We look forward to a great rest of the week and a great bowl game against San Jose State.

– Tim Beck in a statement on X

Although the statement is pretty vanilla, you can hear the irritation behind Beck’s words— but that’s on him. This whole thing could have been avoided by simply not posting the photo, or holding it for a later date. It was pretty obvious that a photo of a shirtless college football coach and bikini-clad dancers would spark a reaction, even if it is really no big deal. Especially in this day and age…
