Tom Brady's biographer thinks he could make a comeback attempt
Lars Anderson, Tom Brady’s biographer, has said that he would “not be surprised” if the legendary quarterback attempted a comeback. Anderson says he thinks Brady wishes he got an eighth Super Bowl ring.
Tom Brady played in the NFL for 23 seasons and won seven Super Bowl titles (six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Bucs). Brady, however, has been retired since 2023 and has been calling NFL games for Fox since 2024.
Author of new Tom Brady biography says he believes the QB wishes he was still playing and could attempt a comeback next year
Speaking to Front Office Sports, however, Lars Anderson — the author of the 2026 biography Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness — didn’t rule out Brady making a comeback attempt.
“I think he wishes he got number eight,” Anderson said. “I think he wishes circumstances could have been different and he could have kept playing.”
“I do think that if Tom had his druthers, he would be playing right now, and I would not be shocked if he somehow tries to play next year.”

The oldest player to ever appear in an NFL game was Oakland Raiders quarterback George Blanda, who retired at the age of 48 in 1975. If Brady were to ever appear in another NFL game, he would break that record.
The most likely scenario for a Brady return would be an injury to a starting quarterback on a Super Bowl-caliber team. If the Los Angeles Rams lost Matthew Stafford, for example, Brady could potentially be an option they’d look into, particularly since their offense is already built around an older, immobile quarterback.
