Tom Brady’s response to a recent viral video has fans wondering if he’s lost his competitive edge.

The Tampa Bay passer was spotted signing an autograph for 49ers’ defender Dre Greenlaw after Sunday’s 35-7 beatdown to the 49ers. Greenlaw had picked Brady off earlier in the contest and wanted the signature to help commemorate the moment.

Brady obliged, though it had to sting just a bit. While Greenlaw went out of his way to praise the quarterback for being the GOAT, it was sort of a backhanded compliment given that the celebration came at the signal caller’s expense.

While talking on his Let’s Go! podcast on Monday, Tom Brady commented on that interaction.

“It was s— for me, to be honest. It was complete s—. But I try to be a gentleman.

“I’m happy he’s got the ball. I wish I didn’t throw it, but I’m trying to be a good sport. Because a lot of times I’m not a good sport. I can be a pretty bad sport.”

And he’s definitely right.

Tom Brady became the player NFL fans loved to hate while in New England. His competitiveness couldn’t allow him to shake hands with Nick Foles after a Super Bowl loss to the Eagles. A similar situation occurred in Tampa following a regular season loss to the Bears.

We’ve seen Brady’s passion on full display on the sidelines, where cameras often catch him yelling at officials and slamming iPads. But this latest response has many wondering if the edge is finally gone in the midst of what could be his final season.

One fan wrote, “He’s on his last tours. He knows it. We know it,” after Tom Brady signing the interception ball. Another person commented, “New England Tom Brady would have gone straight to the locker room.”

Hey, maybe it represents growth as Brady get to the final stage of his career. Many argue he’s lost the passion in the midst of a 6-7 season. We’ll see how this year finishes up for the Bucs and whether or not Tom Brady decides to hang up the cleats for good in 2022.
