So far today we’ve already heard what the Cleveland Browns coaching staff thinks of one of their main trade targets, Jimmy Garoppolo, being traded to the San Francisco 49ers. (They were NOT happy.)

But what does the main man in New England, Tom Brady, think of his long-time backup QB becoming the second solid backup this season (along with Jacoby Brissett) to be offloaded to another team?

Glad you asked, because Monday night Brady was asked about that and more by Jim Gray on Westwood One Radio.

Here’s what TB12 had to say, reports WEEI

“Jimmy was a great teammate and a great friend and he always will be,” Brady said. “I want nothing but the very best for him. He’s earned the trust of his teammates and the respect of his teammates and that is all you can ask for as a player.”

So does Brady think Garoppolo will be successful in San Francisco?

“I certainly hope so. He’s put in all the effort. I’ve watched him for 3½ years and really enjoyed working with him. Hopefully he goes on and does a great job.”

Gray then asked the 40-year-old Brady if the trade of Garoppolo means that New England, just like Brady himself, sees him playing and being successful for several more seasons?

“Well, I don’t know what that means. This is a week-to-week league. Things change so quickly from week-to-week, year-to-year. Everyone is concerned — in my mind this is all about this season and us trying to win. I am trying to do the best I can do for our team like I always do and I am going to bring it every single day, like I’ve tried to do for the last 18 years. I am focused on this season and I am sure that’s where everyone else in our organization is focused. We have a bye week this week and we are going to go out and try to win next week.”

When asked if he was surprised by the trade, which Brady says he heard about while he was at home, he replied…

“Well, this is the time of year where we’ve been part of a lot of trades, our team has, over the years. Again, as players, we try to show up to work every day doing the best we can do, and a lot of other things take care of themselves.

“When other teams want good players, whether it’s coming to our team or leaving our team, those are the types of opportunities that present themselves; they come up. Like I said, he’s been a great teammate and a great friend and he always will be. I want nothing but the very best for him.”

So will Brady, as he has said in the past, actually be around and still a top quarterback at age 45 in 2022? If he does, here’s what ESPN thinks Touchdown Tommy will look like thanks to a neat little time-lapse they created…

No way Gisele let’s Tommy go gray while he’s still playing. Not a chance.
