Tom Brady’s ‘Unique’ Sunburn Prevention Method Is Very Unorthodox, VERY Inadvisable

Listen, you’ll get no argument from me that Tom Brady hasn’t put up the best numbers and won the most games, including the big ones than any other quarterback in NFL history. Dude is the GOAT.

However, some of his methods for maintaining his ability to still be one of the best at the age of 40 are a little, how shall I put this, odd.

On Wednesday we shared a little bit of detail on what Brady eats and drinks every day from his new self-help book, The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance. Needless to say, I won’t be using his diet tips anytime soon because, well, I’m not insane.

But hey, if it works for him, that’s great! Unfortunately there are people out there who will buy what Brady is selling as gospel. He’s become the Gwyneth Paltrow of sports with his bizarre takes on health and fitness. Problem is, some of what he is selling, just like Paltrow, is 100% pure BS and even dangerous.

Case in point: here’s another excerpt from his new book where he talks about sunburn prevention…

When I was growing up, and playing outside in the sun, I got sunburned a lot. I was a fair-skinned Irish boy, after all. These days, even if I get an adequate amount of sun, I won’t get a sunburn, which I credit to the amount of water I drink. I always hydrate afterward, too, to keep my skin from peeling. When I once told that to my sister, she said, “You mean I don’t have to use all those moisturizers and facial products to keep my skin looking good? I should just drink as much water as you do? I think you should market your TB12 Electrolytes as a beauty product.” I just laughed.

No, seriously, he said that. Deadspin has photos of the book.

As a person who has had someone very close to him die as a result of skin cancer, let me just say to Tom Brady…

And if you’re smart, you’ll do exactly what Brady’s coach Bill Belichick says he’s going to do with regard to Brady’s new book…

I’ve never disliked Tom Brady more than I do right now. And that’s saying something.
