Who are the greatest NFL players of all-time? That was the perplexing question that Harris Interactive tackled. The polling company asked Americans to vote for the greatest NFL players of all-time, and New England Patriots fans will be exuberant over the final results.

Tom Brady, who has never been ranked in the company’s cracked the top five, was named the second greatest football player of all-time. Only former San Francisco 49ers QB Joe Montana edged him out on the list. Meanwhile, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning came in at third.

Top-five NFL players of all-time:

  1. Joe Montana
  2. Tom Brady
  3. Peyton Manning
  4. Walter Payton
  5. Jim Brown

Manning and Brady were not on the list in 2009, but they have since replaced Brett Favre (previously ranked number one) and Jerry Rice (previously 5th). Montana jumps ahead two spots, while Walter Payton maintains his #4 spot and Jim Brown drops from 2nd to 5th.

The poll did not only ask respondents about football, 2,368 fans were also polled on the greatest sports stars of all-time. The top five athletes of all-time in order were Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Muhammad Ali, Serena Williams and Manning.

The poll also asked fans to select each sport that they follow, and football came in first with 50 percent.

So chew on those rankings for the next weeks and get pissed over them.
