Burglars broke into Tom Brady’s new CardVault store, smashing its window and stealing dozens of trading cards just one week after it opened in Palo Alto, California.
The Town & Country Village store, which had its grand opening on August 15, was broken into at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to Palo Alto Online. According to police, the unnamed suspect or suspects broke in by destroying several display cases and breaking the glass. Police say the stolen trading cards are worth more than $12,000.
Each CardVault by Tom Brady store has a “vault” filled with signed memorabilia and specializes in trading cards, sports collectibles, and collectibles outside of sports, such as Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering cards.
CardVault’s New York store in SoHo was also burglarized shortly after it opened in 2025, with nearly $10,000 in baseball and Pokemon cards reported stolen.

Hundreds of football fans and collectors attended the store’s grand opening on August 15. When word spread that Tom Brady, who grew up nearby in San Mateo, might be there, several people started lining up hours before the doors opened. Eventually, the future Hall of Famer showed up, posed for pictures, signed autographs, and took part in the ribbon-cutting.
The Palo Alto location is the company’s 19th, and third in California. The other two are in San Francisco and Sacramento.
Brady acquired a 50% stake in CardVault in 2025. Last week, one of Brady’s business partners, Chris Costa, a co-founder and managing partner of CardVault, told the California Post that the seven-time Super Bowl winner spent “a life-altering amount of money” on a 1-of-1 Fernando Mendoza rookie card.
“I got Fernando Mendoza’s ‘My 1st NFL Auto’ one-of-one,” Tom Brady said about his purchase. “I know how hard he works. He’s got a great family and he’s coming to a great environment for success. So I figured you’ve got to invest in it, and it’s going to hopefully bring some good luck to Las Vegas.”
