Tommy DeVito’s three-game winning streak as the starting quarterback of the New York Giants was the closest thing the New York metro has had to Linsanity since Linsanity. But, it seems as though the fun is over, as DeVito has been benched for the second half of the team’s Christmas Day game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

DeVito was relieved by Tyrod Taylor with the Giants behind 20-3 at halftime.

An undrafted free-agent, Tommy DeVito was 9-16 for 55 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the first half as the Giants offense struggled mightily against the Philadelphia Eagles defense.

It’s been a roller-coaster last month for Tommy DeVito. The rookie lives with his parents at his childhood home less than five miles from the home of the New York Giants, MetLife Stadium.

Starting quarterback Daniel Jones was lost for the year due to an ACL tear, and backup Tyrod Taylor missed time with a ribs injury. That opened things up for DeVito, who beat the Commanders, Patriots, and Packers in succession as New York got their record back to 5-8 after week 14, technically still in the playoff hunt.

But, the team was blown out on the road against the Saints last week, only managing six points, and the first half of the game against the Eagles was no better, giving head coach Brian Daboll no choice but to put the veteran Taylor in.

If this is the end of the “Tommy Cutlets” era, we will remember it for a while. The local Italian-American star injecting some life into a lost season with a fan-base full of Italian-Americans produced some incredible moments, including everything his agent, Sean Stellato did.
