The new season of the XFL kicked off as Week 1 is officially underway.

However, former NFL quarterback turned announcer, Tony Romo caught some strays out of nowhere on Sunday.

John Parker Romo, a kicker for the San Antonio Brahmas, hit a field goal to put his team up 3-0 in the first quarter.

That’s when one of the announcers took an uncalled shot at Tony Romo.

These clips are always a bit entertaining as there is no clear reason why the announcer decided to throw some shade.

Does anybody else think that this announcer was just chomping at the bit to roast Romo? It feels like as soon as he saw John Parker Romo’s name he started scheming a way to throw some shade at the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback.

Maybe that guy has beef with Tony Romo? Maybe he’s a Cowboys fan and upset about how Romo never won a Super Bowl. Or the guy just thought it was funny. It could be any one of these reasons for the announcer to throw shade, as it was a bit uncalled for.

We just hope the former NFL quarterback responds and throws some shade back. Even so, that wish is not likely going to come true.

Oh well, at least Tony Romo has a sweet gig as an announcer himself. Additionally, we’re just glad that football is still on the TV midway through February.
