Travis Hunter is the top transfer prospect in college football. The former No. 1 overall recruit announced his decision to leave Jackson State following the departure of head coach Deion Sanders.
Now, Hunter will have a bevy of suitors ranging from coast to coast. Colorado, Georgia, Miami, and USC seem to be the top players at the moment.
Recruited as a defensive back, the versatile talent also says he’d like a chance to play wideout for his next team, too. He was able to play on both sides of the ball at JSU, but it could limit his options at the FBS level. It’s one of the reasons many see him once again joining forces with Coach Prime in Boulder.
With the early signing period now here, many are wondering if Hunter will make his commitment now and ink a letter of intent with a new school. That may be a little premature, though, as he’s likely to make some visits to potential destinations. While he’s already been seen on campus at Colorado, he’s not had time to go through all of his options.
But we may now have a better idea of when Travis Hunter’s commitment might come. On Wednesday, the defender took to Twitter to give an ultimatum of sorts about his pending college pledge.

If he gets up to 100K YouTube subscribers, Hunter says he’ll make his commitment. As of the time of that tweet, the star footballer still needed about 30,000 subscriptions to reach his goal. Just a few hours later, it’s up to 89.7K, just about 10,000 supporters short.
Fans were quick to comment on the commitment condition. One fan wrote, “Marketing 101. I like it,” while another said, “This sounds like something who’s following Deion to Colorado would do.”
Wherever Travis Hunter ends up, he’ll make an immediate impact. If the numbers continue trending up for his YouTube channel, we may know his decision sooner rather than later.
