Jackson State landed a huge win on the recruiting trail when they secured the commitment of athlete Travis Hunter.
Hunter was the unanimous No. 1 player in the class of 2022, and he’s easily the most highly rated player in Jackson State history. Never before had the nation’s top prospect spurned offers from Power Five programs in order to attend an HBCU.
It was originally thought that he’d be headed to Deion Sanders’s alma mater, Florida State. Instead, he surprised us all by opting to play for Coach Prime and the Tigers.
Hunter had been committed to play for the Seminoles for much of his recruitment, but the flip gives Jackson State a weapon on both offense and defense. While he projects to be a cornerback at the next level, it seems that he’s planning on playing some wide receiver in college, on top of his defensive responsibilities.
He’s certainly got the skillset.
Hunter made highlight reels by Mossing high school defenders prior to stepping foot on his college campus. Now, Jackson State fans got their first glimpse of what Hunter could look like on offense for the Tigers.

The dynamic athlete blew by his defender to haul in the long score. This coming after he Moss’d one of this teammates for his first touchdown of the afternoon.

And, of course, we can’t leave out his defense.
After switching to the other side of the ball, Hunter pulled in a pair of interceptions as he continued to fill the stat sheet.

It really is gonna be the Travis Hunter show at Jackson State this fall.
Two targets, two touchdowns. One 80 yard bomb — the other, a moss-esque catch in the corner of the end zone. Truly not fair.

An impressive debut for the budding star.
