Travis Kelce Called Out For Poor Play During Chiefs Loss To Broncos After Attending World Series In Texas

Travis Kelce played his worst game of the season as the Chiefs lost to the Broncos on Sunday, just two days after attending Game 1 of the World Series. It marked the first time since 2015 that Denver won a game against Kansas City.

The latter had defeated the former in 16-straight games coming into the weekend. That streak is dead!

Kelce, who was targeted nine times, caught six passes for 58 yards and did not find pay dirt. Although those numbers are really not that bad in the grand scheme of things, they are not up to par for the best tight end in the league right now — if not of all-time.

Prior to Sunday, Kelce had not recorded less than 60 yards in a game that he did not score. And a loss to a NFL team that has been a laughing stock for much of the season simply will not cut it.

Some people pointed to the idea that Kelce plays worse when Taylor Swift is not in attendance. That is true, but there was a more glaring concern this week.

Kelce attended Game 1 of the World Series in Arlington, Texas. He does not have any known ties to either the Rangers or the Diamondbacks. Why was he there?

To further raise questions, he was seen drinking out at a bar either during or after the game.

Most NFL players are able to enjoy their Friday nights to some extent. They normally travel on Saturday after a light practice or walkthrough to end the week.

However, it was a little bit strange to see Kelce in the Lone Star State on Friday night when his team played in Denver less than 48 hours later. It just was.

Shannon Sharpe agrees. Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson does not.

Johnson sees no issue with Kelce having some fun on a Friday. Sharpe is confused, like many, why Kelce was in Texas for a game (with no known ties) when he lives in Kansas City and was playing in Denver.

Whether it was the right move or the wrong move, the numbers don’t lie.

Kelce did not score in a blowout loss to the Broncos and recorded his second-lowest yardage total of the season. That was just two days after turning up at the World Series.
