It seems Trent Dilfer is preparing for a raucous environment when his UAB team rolls into Athens this weekend. The Blazers will take on the two-time defending champion Bulldogs on Saturday, and he believes the atmosphere in Sanford Stadium will rival a Super Bowl game.

The head coach gave a preview of the upcoming meeting, suggesting it will be one of the coolest experiences of his life.

Dilfer spoke to the media this week as UAB preps for its most difficult contest of the season. The Blazers will travel to SEC country this weekend to take on Georgia.

The head coach says he’s only been to one other Southeastern Conference stadium, and it ranks as the second-coolest sporting event attended in his life behind the Kentucky Derby.

The head coach was asked about the big-time environments he played in throughout his college and NFL career.

“I never played in anything like this,” Dilfer replied. “I’ve been to one SEC game. My daughter was being recruited by the University of Alabama, and we went to the Ole Miss-Alabama game… It’s better than the Super Bowl. An SEC football game at night is a way better atmosphere than the Super Bowl. I think it’s the second-coolest thing I’ve ever been to as a spectator, so I personally, am really excited.”

High praise.

For those around the SEC, it’s not news. College football in the south is on another level. As Dilfer notes, “It just means more.”

Sanford Stadium should be rocking again on Saturday with 92,000 barking Bulldogs, especially if coach Kirby Smart gives another motivational speech to UGA supporters ahead of the contest.

Trent Dilfer and UAB will find out at 7:30 PM ET in Athens as a 42-point underdog.
