Tua Tagovailoa Reportedly Gets ‘Cold Shoulder’ From Dolphins During First Official Meeting

Tua Tagovailoa has been linked to the Dolphins for over a year now. ‘Tank for Tua’ was a very real thing, but then Miami went and won five games last season so things got a bit off track so to speak. Then, Joe Burrow came along and very clearly made it known that he is the top quarterback in this year’s draft class so the Tua-Miami link was back on with the franchise holding the No. 5 pick.

At least that was the plan most people saw coming to fruition, but during this week’s NFL Combine it simply may not be the case. While a team like the Redskins, who hold the No. 2 pick, could spoil the Miami party there’s now a report from the Sun-Sentinel that Tagovailoa’s meeting with the Dolphins didn’t go very well.

According to the Sun-Sentinel’s sources, the Dolphins weren’t all that excited.

Tagovailoa believed the Dolphins would have the same amount of excitement as him for their first official meeting together Wednesday.

Instead, Tagovailoa was surprised he received a bit of a cold shoulder. He left feeling uncertain about the Dolphins and their desire for him to be their next franchise quarterback, a source told the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Friday.

“No one was excited,” the source added. “They didn’t give any indication of ‘he’s their guy.’ He felt weird, like is this a joke?

“He’s not turned off, but it was just weird,” the source continued.

While the report suggests that Tagovailoa still believes the franchise has a great owner in Steve Ross and all signs point to him still wanting to play in Miami, this is certainly a report that’s difficult to ignore.

Or perhaps, just maybe, this is a smokescreen.
