Twitter Explodes Over Bryce Harper Vs. Mike Trout Debate That Is Breaking People’s Brains

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout could retire today and would likely be a first-ballot Baseball Hall of Famer.

So too could Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper.

But which one has had the better career?

That is the question that sent Twitter into full-on meltdown mode on Monday after Harper helped lift the Phillies to an NLCS Game 1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Now, on paper, it may not be much of a debate.

Trout is a three-time MVP to Harper’s twice. He’s an 11-time All-Star to Harper’s seven, and a nine-time silver slugger  compared to Harper’s two times.

Additionally, Trout leads Harper in wins above replacement, home runs, RBIs, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS and OPS+.

Seems like a pretty open and shut case, right?

But the problem comes when you begin to discuss Trout’s lack of postseason success. Or, y’know, postseason experience at all.

Meanwhile, Harper was the NLCS MVP  a year ago for the Philadelphia Phillies and is looking to win his first World Series with Philly this time around.

Which is why fans are engaged in all-out war on Twitter over who they believe has had the better career.

Breaks my heart to say it, but if someone said that Trout ran from the opportunities to win titles so he could enjoy California weather, I’d be hard pressed to argue against it,’ one fan tweeted.

“Career does not equal individual player success. Mike Trout has played in 3 playoff games and lost all of them. Bryce has too many iconic moments to count. If he finishes this off with a ring, it’s a legit discussion,” said another.

But not everybody was team Harper.

This really puts into perspective how good mike trout was , to play less games and have 40 more WAR than another elite player is insane,” @_ThatGuyPete_ tweeted.

Double Harper’s career WAR in 20 less games I’m crying Trout is so clearly the greatest of all time,” wrote @HoodieAlonso.

So, take you pick.

Trout or Harper?
