Joe Burrow should be the first name called at the NFL Draft in April by the Cincinnati Bengals, but given some recent rumors and reports, it may not be that simple.

Burrow himself has made some rather interesting comments about the Bengals taking him with the No. 1 overall pick recently explaining that he has ‘leverage’ in the situation, according to Pro Football Talk.

“If they select me, they select me.”

“I do have leverage,” Burrow said. “They have their process and I have my process. We haven’t even gotten to the Combine yet. There’s a lot of things that happen leading up to the draft and a lot of information gathered.

Those words aren’t necessarily going to shut down any rumors about him not being so set on going to the NFL’s worst team last season.

Everyone has their opinion about the entire situation, including former first overall pick Steve Bartkowski who said that he should look to pull an Eli Manning and refuse to play for the Bengals just like Manning did with the Chargers years ago.

TMZ caught up with former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu and asked his opinion about Burrow going to Cincinnati and the Honey Badger had nothing but positive things to say about Burrow going to the Bengals and embracing the opportunity.

In my opinion, I don’t think there’s been as easy of a first overall pick decision in quite some time, the Bengals should absolutely take Burrow. You’d have to go back to 2012 when Andrew Luck went No. 1 overall or maybe even the year prior when Cam Newton was the first pick of the NFL Draft to find an easier pick.

With that being said, things can change over the next couple of weeks, especially if Burrow doesn’t necessarily warm up to coaches and the front office of the Bengals. It’s highly unlikely that’s the case, but crazier things have happened.
