Tyson Bagent’s dad, along with 52 other members of his family, were on hand to watch the rookie quarterback take down the Raiders. In his first career start, Bagent led the offense to three touchdown drives in a 30-12 upset of Las Vegas.

The passer had quite the crowd in attendance as he filled in for an injured Justin Fields.

Bagent shined in that first start, throwing for a game-high 162 yards. His 21-of-29 performance helped the Bears jump out to a 21-3 lead over the first three quarters of play, and he recorded his first touchdown pass as a pro.

The win over the Raiders was actually Bagent’s second appearance of the season, as he made his NFL debut last Sunday in a loss to the Vikings. Justin Field went down with a thumb injury, forcing the reserve into action.

Prior to his professional career, the signal caller was a Division II star at Shepard University. Despite winning the D2 equivalent of the Heisman trophy with a 5,000-yard, 53-touchdown in 2021, he went undrafted.

The Bears took a chance, and it’s paid off thus far.

Knowing that he’d make his first start in Soldier Field, Tyson Bagent brought his own cheering section made up of 53 family members and friends, including his dad.

Tyson Bagent’s dad is an arm wrestling champion

Travis Bagent is a world champion arm wrestler, and he flashed his skills earlier this year. Making an appearance at the Senior Bowl, he easily dispatched NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on the air.

On Sunday, he grabbed a seat at Soldier Field to watch his son chase his dreams. Things are certainly off to a good start after the 30-12 win.
