UConn men’s basketball arrived to the Final Four in Phoenix on early Thursday morning after the travel day took significant longer than expected due to flight issues. Upon arrival, the Huskies were shown to their hotel for much-needed sleep.

It appears as though they have much smaller beds.

Admittedly, I know absolutely nothing about the March Madness hotel setup. I know the NCAA is in charge of facilitating travel and such, but I don’t know all of the logistics.

This might not be anything new. This might not be that big of a deal.

With that being said, it was rather jarring to see the discrepancy in bed size!

UConn guard Stephon Castle posted a photo of his room on Instagram. Here is how it looked:

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, that certainly appears to be a Twin XL. It might be a Full or maybe a Full XL, but I don’t think so.

Going only off of that image posted by Castle, there is no way that it is a Queen or larger.

N.C. State star D.J. Burns also posted a photo of his room on Instagram. Here is how it looked:

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, that certainly appears to be a King. It could be a Queen or Olympic Queen, but those sizes are more rectangular and less true square.

Regardless of their exact sizes, Burns’ bed is significantly bigger than Castle’s bed.

Now, you might be saying “well, duh, Burns is bigger than Castle.” However, the latter is 6-foot-6, 215 pounds. The former is 6-foot-9, 275 pounds. There isn’t that much of a difference. Especially when it comes to height. Three inches doesn’t really change all that much when you’re already 6-foot-6.

Plus, 7-foot-2 Donovan Clingan was assigned the smaller bed as well— in a room with his teammate!

Every player on every team should also have the same size bed, no?

To reiterate— I know nothing about the logistics. Maybe Castle requested a smaller bed. Probably not.

UConn had a really hard time getting to Phoenix. The Huskies seem to be sleeping in smaller beds.

Head coach Dan Hurley is going to use both mishaps as motivation!
