Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa are set to meet up in Saturday’s UFC 271 co-main event and of course that has meant there have been some entertaining sound bites in the lead-up. It’s the one thing we always know for sure about a Derrick Lewis fight.

Sometimes, he comes out guns blazing and makes quick use of the ridiculous power in his hands to put out his opponents. Every once in a while, we get a slow, grueling affair like when he fought Ilir Latifi or Francis Ngannou.

No matter what version of his fights we get, we can always rely on him to be entertaining when he’s given a microphone. That remained the case today.

Earlier today, at a UFC 271 press conference, Tai Tuivasa was asked about Derrick Lewis throwing his cup into the stands after his last win. Tuivasa said that he would do one of his trademark “shoeys” out of Lewis’ cup after the fight if he won.

Lewis had a predictably funny response.

These are the types of comments that have made Lewis a fan favorite. Those fans will be hoping to see fireworks between two heavyweights who are unexpectedly in the title contention mix at heavyweight right now.

Tuivasa is currently riding a 4-fight win streak and finished all 4 fights. He most recently knocked out Augusto Sakai back in December to work his way up to 11th in the UFC heavyweight rankings.

Derrick Lewis lost an interim title bout against Cyril Gane back in August, but bounced back in December with a 1st round KO of Chris Daukus just a week after Tuivasa’ win over Sakai. After that win, Lewis is currently ranked 3rd in the heavyweight rankings.

Regardless of who wins this one, we’re sure to get an entertaining post-fight interview out of one of them.
