Fan Punched By Arman Tsarukyan At UFC 300 Opts Not To Sue, Apologizes Instead

This shouldn’t need to be said, but you should not, at any point, try to punch a UFC fighter.

You definitely shouldn’t punch a UFC fighter as he’s walking out to the cage for a fight.

One fan learned that the hard way on Saturday at UFC 300, and now that fan has issued an apology to lightweight star Arman Tsarukyan.

Tsarukyan got into a squabble with the fan while walking to the cage for his fight against former champion Charles Oliveira. The entire incident was caught on camera and UFC president Dana White even thought the fan would sue.

“You might not want to hang over the things and grab people when they’re walking out,” White said in the post-even press conference. “These guys are all f—- hyped up whatever. I’m sure we’re probably going to get sued. We’ll deal with that on Monday too.”

Tsarukyan blamed the fan for instigating the kerfuffle.

“He showed me ‘f– you’ and he wanted to punch me and I wanted to punch him back,” the Armenian said of the incident. “That’s it. So guys, no one show me ‘f— you.’ It doesn’t matter who you are, I’m going to punch you in the face. You can show me ‘f—’ from like 200 meters, I’m not going to punch you. But when you’re close to me, it’s, like automatically, I’m from Russia. Don’t do that, please, or I’m going to go to prison in U.S.”

Thankfully, Tsarukyan did not go to prison.

UFC Fan Takes Blame For Instigating Fight With Arman Tsarukyan

In fact, the fan actually took responsibility for his actions.

“I’d like to apologize to Arman for provoking him by flipping him off. I was buzzing all day and the moment got to me,” the fan told Bloody Elbow.

“It was my first time attending a live UFC event and it was absolutely incredible. I’m glad the incident wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I do want to make clear that I didn’t pull him towards me, yell out offensive words or anything of that nature. I flipped him off nothing else. Congrats to Arman on a great performance and best of luck to him against whoever he fights for the title.”

All’s well that ends well. But yeah, don’t go punching UFC fighters. Or any professional athletes, for that matter.
