While Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the NFL’s most popular players, his wife Brittany is, well, not as popular.

Brittany Mahomes has been involved in several controversies in recent years that have left fans wondering what the star quarterback sees in her.

We may have gotten at least part of the answer recently when Brittany appeared in the 2024 version of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

It’s the first time that she’s appeared in the legendary magazine edition, and she spoke at length about the appreciation she felt for being selected.

“I’m truly just so humbled and still in disbelief,” she told Sports Illustrated “As a girl from Tyler, Texas, who only really knew sports, never in a million years did I think I’d be in [the SI Swimsuit Issue]. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity.”

But Mahomes is also aware of the controversy that follows seemingly everywhere she goes. She says that despite that, nothing is going to change.

“Be confident in who you are and be unapologetically yourself,” she said. “People are going to love you or hate you, but finding your values and what makes you ‘you’ to be the best version of yourself is what really matters. Whether that’s health and wellness, being a great wife or mom, or career goals, being the best version of you is the most important thing you can be.”

She also spoke about her journey from pro soccer player, to online fitness inferencer, to eventual pro sports team owner with the NWSL’s Kansas City Current.

“It all started when I was playing professional soccer over in Iceland,” she states. “I didn’t have a ton to do outside of soccer, so I found myself spending a ton of time in the gym working out, creating workouts, and posting them online. I realized that I was enjoying that so much more than actually playing soccer.”

Now she’s part of project that sees the Current become the first NWSL side to have their own stadium.

“These women deserve to feel important and have their own facility so that they can perform at their best,” Mahomes says. “I hope this sets the bar for women’s sports everywhere and other cities continue to build around women’s sports. Just like young boys get to dream of playing football at stadiums like Arrowhead, I want young girls everywhere to aspire to play at stadiums like CPKC.”

Love her or hate her, Brittany Mahomes doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
