Fans of world football have been given a gift this week as some of Europe’s biggest leagues have decided to provide us with mid-week action this week. Serie A and the Premier League both scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday matches this week and the DFB Pokal is even being played in Germany.

The action has not disappointed and today it led to one absolutely incredible highlight.

Among the slate of today’s Serie A matches, Lazio was traveling from the Italian capital to Genoa to take on Sampdoria. The Roman club had the clear advantage early on, but struggled to find an opening goal.

That changed 21 minutes in thanks to a bit of magic from star midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

SMS was the target of a long pass just beyond the midfield circle on Sampdoria’s end of the pitch. The ball came to him in the air with his back to goal, but he was able to flick on an incredible back heel to Ciro Immobile, who was left with nobody but the keeper to beat.

Immobile had no trouble taking advantage of the beautiful pass and easily got his shot past the keeper to give Lazio a 1-0 lead.

Milinkovic-Savic has continued to impress year after year for Lazio despite repeatedly being the subject of interest from bigger clubs. Even this summer, he was once again linked with a move to Juventus before they signed Paul Pogba.

If Milinkovic-Savic puts together more highlights like this for Lazio, that interest from around Europe is sure to continue.
