Radio Host Suggests Urban Meyer To Be The Next Michigan State Head Coach

With Mel Tucker having been placed on unpaid leave awaiting a sure firing following a scandal involving illicit phone calls with sexual abuse prevention advocate Brenda Tracy, the Michigan Spartans need a head coach. And, one local radio host thinks Sparty should turn to the scandal-free and low-maintenance Urban Meyer as head coach.

The comments were made by Justin Spiro on the Spiro Avenue Show.

The arguments for Urban, he’s been four schools all have won big. None of of the four. Anyone would even argue regret hiring him. Michigan State just had Mel Tucker. Michigan State regrets hiring Mel Tucker. That’s not the same thing. Oh, Bobby Petrino, he flamed out in his second chance. They regret hiring him again in Arkansas. Like, these other examples, those were bad marriages. Those schools regret having to employ those people in question. Four-for four all of his collegiate, not Jacksonville, players love him. I get the pushback on him. I understand that I’m not saying anybody with any qualms at all is a maniac I get it. I think the juice is worth the squeeze.

Justin Spiro raises some good points about the three-time national champion head coach. Yes, even though things maybe didn’t end well at Florida or Ohio State, both schools view his tenure following, with big time success at both. Even at smaller programs, like Bowling Green and Utah, Meyer led them to new heights.

The problem is, this is a university that finds itself in scandal after scandal. First, it was the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal. The doctor, employed by the university, was found guilty in the sexual abuse of countless young women, including Spartan student athletes and USA gymnastics stars.

Now, with the Mel Tucker controversy, it’s unclear if the university has the stomach to hire someone like Urban Meyer. The last time we saw him coaching with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he was caught grinding on a young woman that was decidedly not his wife and allegedly kick his kicker, Josh Lambo.

That being said, if Michigan State was to hire Urban Meyer, they’d likely win a lot of football games. His career record is an astonishing 187-32. He AVERAGES eleven wins a season.
