Apparently records for the Summer Olympic events are being broken left and right.

First, we had Leon Marchand break a nearly 21-year-old record by Michael Phelps, now we have USA sprinter Noah Lyles surpassing Usain Bolt.

You’d think record held by the popular Jamaican sprinter would have no shot at being broken, but here we are.

Having said that, Lyles didn’t run a race faster than Bolt. Instead, he was able to break “Usain Bolt’s record for the most 200-meter races run in less than 20 seconds on Sunday at the London Diamond League competition,” per Sports Illustrated.

SI shares details on the exact record Noah Lyles broke.

“The 26-year-old has completed 35 sprints in under 20 seconds after finishing in 19.47 seconds on Sunday. Bolt, who retired in 2017, finished his career with 34 sprints under the 20-second mark.”

I know he didn’t run faster than Usain Bolt, but it’s still impressive to see someone break a record held by the world’s greatest sprinter.

That’s something Noah Lyles can proudly say that nobody else can. At least for now until someone possibly breaks his record one day.

Either way, sports fans couldn’t believe as they were happy to see Lyles surpass Bolt.

Clearly he’s one of the best.

Team USA is really making some noise in the sprinting world.

With that said, hopefully, Noah Lyles can continue competing at a high-level like this. It’d be awesome to see him potentially break more records 2024 Summer Olympics.
