Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice faced off a number of times in the NFL, with their last meeting coming a quarter-century ago. On Saturday, the Hall of Famers’ sons will square up on the football field.

Colorado and USC are set to meet in a huge PAC 12 showdown in Boulder. The matchup will pit Brenden Rice of the Trojans against Shedeur, and possibly Shilo Sanders, of the Buffaloes.

All three have made major impacts on their programs in 2023.

Rice followed in his father’s footsteps as a wide receiver, and he currently leads his team in touchdown catches. Shilo Sanders did the same, lining up in the defensive backfield for Colorado.

Through four games, he’s totaled 21 tackles while also recording a pick-six. Prime-esque.

Unfortunately, Shilo was injured in Colorado’s most recent game against Oregon, putting his playing status for USC in doubt. Should he receive the go-ahead, we could see Sanders and Rice locked up as their fathers were as pros.

Shedeur paved his own path, playing quarterback for the Buffs. And he’s done nothing but shine on the football field.

Over his four starts, he’s led Colorado to three wins while throwing for 1,410 yards and 11 scores.

This will be the first meeting between the youngsters given this is the debut season for the Sanders brothers in Boulder. Rice was once a Buffalo himself before transferring to USC before the start of last season.

As a senior, he’s hauled in five scores while recording an insane 21.4 yards per reception.

This should provide another interesting storyline to the USC-Colorado matchup given the families’ histories of success on the gridiron. If it’s anything like the battles Prime and Rice had in the NFL, it should be more than entertaining.
