Eagles DC Vic Fangio referenced Anthony Fauci in a press conference
Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio may be about to start training camp but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have time to keep his eye on the news. During a press conference on Thursday, Fangio referenced Anthony Fauci’s appearance at a Republican-led committee hearing about his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While speaking to reporters, Vic Fangio — entering his third season as the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator — was asked about his plans at the safety position. Fangio did not answer the question, however, and instead said he’ll be taking the Fifth “like Fauci.”
Fauci was subpoenaed to testify under oath by Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.

“I’m gonna be like Fauci and just take the Fifth Amendment on all questions. Did you guys see that? Oh my god,” Fauci told inquiring reporters.

On Wednesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared before a Senate committee and invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times in response to questions from Senator Rand Paul and others about his COVID-19 response and the origins of the pandemic, citing his attorney’s advice.
“The only conclusion I can reach is that the sole reason he is calling me before this committee is to get me to say something, anything, that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, ‘behind bars,’” Fauci said in a prepared statement, adding that Paul has an “obvious obsession with calling for my prosecution.”
Fangio and the Philadelphia Eagles will open their 2026 season at home against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, September 13 at 4:25 p.m. EST.
