This week the PGA Tour is in La Quinta, Calif. for The American Express. It’s the first stop of the California swing and one of the more interesting setups all year seeing as how players tee it up at three different courses over four days. It would be a safe bet to say Jon Rahm likes The AmEx given how he won the tournament in 2018 when it was called the CareerBuilder Challenge, but he’s most definitely not a fan of the setup this year.

The No. 1 player in the world was caught walking off of a green earlier this week doing his fair bit of complaining about the conditions.

“Piece of sh-t fu–ing setup, it’s a putting contest week,” Rahm said not so quietly.

The putter hasn’t been terrible for Rahm this week in La Quinta as he ranks 28th in strokes gained: putting, but he’s clearly not happy with his efforts nor the efforts of the Tour’s setup.

Rahm is one of the most passionate players in the game, and this fan catching him being rather honest about the setup this week is yet another example of that. He said what he had to say just loud enough for the fans around him to hear him, he clearly wasn’t concerned about anyone catching him cursing about the course.

The 27-year-old Spaniard will start the final round on Sunday at 13-under par, five shots off the lead.
