He did it. Rory McIlroy finally won The Masters, became just the sixth person in history to complete the career grand slam, and exorcised the demons that have plagued him on Sundays at Augusta National Golf Club for the past 11 years.
There were around 50,000 fans at The Masters on Sunday to watch Rory McIlroy FINALLY win it all after one of the most dramatic final rounds of all-time. The entire round was a roller coaster with double bogies, birdies, missed putts, and that CLUTCH approach shot on 18 during the first hole of the playoff.
Many of Rory’s fellow pros stuck around to watch him win it but others, like Sahith Theegala who is a massive McIlroy fan, were at home watching on the couch like the rest of us. Over in Northern Ireland at Hollywood Golf Club, Rory’s home club and where he grew up, many gathered late into the night to watch McIlroy win his first Masters. These videos are incredible and if you are like me and never wanted yesterday to end then they are a fantastic way to keep the immaculate vibes going… First up, Sahith Theegala in 2 parts:
@jujurchan Rory is Sahith’s GOAT we are about to throw up HAHA🥲 #themasters #golf #pgatour #golftiktok #golftok #rorymcilroy #golfer #golflife #fypシ
My dude Sahith was in shambles after Rory McIlroy missed that putt on 18 to clinch his first Masters. His girlfriend Juju filmed that video and thankfully, she also filmed ‘part 2’ where Rory sunk his putt after hitting a masterful shot inside Justin Rose:
@jujurchan Replying to @DELVN Sahith could not be happier for Rory!! Such an incredible ending🫶🏼 #golf #pgatour #themasters #golftiktok #golftok #rorymcilroy #golfer #golflife #fypシ
Were there no lights in that house? Some are wondering…. Over in Northern Ireland at Hollywood Golf Club where Rory McIlroy became the Masters-winning golfer he is today, the clubhouse was packed with people watching as Rory finally got it done:

Here is another angle from Hollywood Golf Club as the crowd went wild for Rory McIlroy, one of their own, winning his first Masters green jacket:

I had to include this video on TikTok of a random fan getting choked up over Rory winning The Masters. When we watch these golfers week in and week out, year after year, and live through them flying *this close* to the sun like Icarus only to experience heartbreaking loss like Rory did at the 2024 U.S. Open losing to Bryson… We feel that.
As fans, there’s a sense of catharsis when our favorite athletes finally get over the hump and this video sums up those emotions for a lot of people:
@mshahp The dream of a millennial man who loves golf came true today #masters #rorymcilroy #augustaga #golf @The Masters
I attended the Tuesday practice round at The Masters this year and everyone has asked me about the course, the food, but perhaps my most memorable moment was on the tournament practice facility (aka, the range). We strolled up and found 4 empty seats in the front row of the stands behind the range right behind Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka, two of my favorite golfers, but they had open spots between them and on other side.
At this point, a huge crowd was over on the putting green where Scottie was warming up so we lucked our way into these seats and within 15 minutes, Rory McIlroy showed up directly in front of us, Justin Thomas as well. So we had Rory, JT, Brooks, and DJ warming up 50 feet from us and then Scottie and Jon Rahm were warming up halfway down the range.
Others were there of course, but watching Rory McIlroy go through his full warmup session at that facility at The Masters is something I’ll never forget. He was throwing darts from his first swing to his last. The amount of club head speed Rory can generate as a 5’9″ guy with an athletic build is beyond compare. He truly is the best golfer of his generation and arguably the greatest European golfer of all-time (name someone better!).
What. A. Week.
