The Minnesota Vikings wrapped up their 2024 regular season with a trip to Detroit to face the Lions. That game didn’t go as planned for the road team, who fell 31-9.
The loss effectively ended the Vikings‘ shot at landing the No. 1 overall seed in the NFL postseason. They’ll now have to hit the road as a wildcard team despite winning 14 games.
The experience in Motor City was an unpleasant one for both players and fans. Not only did Minnesota get blown out in the regular season finale, but eventgoers complained of unruly crowd members after the fact.
One of those critics was Whitney Risner, the wife of Vikings offensive lineman Dalton Risner. She claims to have been “heckled, touched, and called names,” simply for wearing the color purple.
Risner posted a ‘Get Ready With Me’ video to TikTok this week showing off her attire for the Sunday night showdown. At one point in the clip, she recalled a visit to Ford Field in the 2023 regular season.
“Last year, I wore a flashy purple jacket,” she said. “I’ve never been heckled so much at an away game. I can only imagine what today is going to bring with this top.”
While looking back on that experience from last season, she filled followers in on her time at the venue this past weekend. A message flashed across the screen reading, “Little did I know that I would be heckled, touched, and called names at last night’s game by Detroit Lions fans (simply for being Vikings fans).”

Heckling comes with the territory, though some can certainly overstep the line. Physical contact is another issue altogether. If true, it’s not the best look for the Detroit fanbase.
The Vikings did their best to be represented in the stands prior to kickoff by purchasing a large chunk of seats behind the Minnesota bench to reserve for fans. Unfortunately, the game didn’t provide the most enjoyable viewing experience.
The team will look to put the loss behind them quickly with a trip to Los Angeles around the corner. The Vikings will face the Rams in a wildcard contest with hopes of moving on to the divisional round.
