The Minnesota Vikings have received a trade offer for star running back Dalvin Cook, according to reports from SKOR North’s Darren Wolfson.

The Vikings are in need of salary cap space and a trade could help them clear almost $8 million in cap space, with Cook’s guaranteed $2 million transferring to his new team due to his recent shoulder surgery.

Dalvin Cook is also not interested in taking a pay-cut, according to Wolfson.

While the details of the trade offer have not been revealed, Wolfson notes that the running back free agency market is thin, making Cook a valuable commodity. With Giants Saquon Barkley, Cowboys Tony Pollard, and Raiders Josh Jacobs all receiving franchise tags, Cook could be an attractive option for teams looking to bolster their running game.

The Vikings are also close to parting ways with veteran wide receiver, Adam Thielen.

However, acquiring Cook would come at a price for any interested team, likely requiring a third or fourth-round pick and additional compensation. Despite this, a trade may still be a more viable option for the Vikings compared to free agency, as they look to address their cap situation and make roster moves for the upcoming season.

As the NFL offseason continues, it remains to be seen whether the Vikings will entertain the trade offer for Cook or explore other options to clear cap space. Regardless, the situation is certainly one to keep an eye on as teams across the league make moves to strengthen their rosters for the 2023 season.
